tech camp readings on podcasting-awesome

yes. awesome! it is quite awesome how podcasting has opened the door for so many voices to be heard, especially in schools. i would love to see my school open the door to podcasting for morning/afternoon announcements. great articles.

comment on readings

excellent articles. digital storytelling is incredible these days. it seems everyone can be a filmmaker. i remember working on films ten years ago at UB with rolls of film and complicated, expensive programs. i remember having to ship film out to be developed and then spending hours cutting and taping 16mm film. It is amazing how easier digital storytelling has become.

wow

this is a great idea

response to wiki articles esp. the article by standen

I enjoyed reading the articles on wikis as technology. I thought the article by Amy Standen suggesting the wiki is a glorified whiteboard was interesting for the two quotes below.
1. "I hesitate when people say it's a new paradigm," says Frey. "Look at the blackboard, which has been in the classroom since who knows when. A wiki is really a glorified whiteboard -- anyone can add to it, change it. This isn't something that teachers have to evolve to adopt; it's simply an extension of that technology."
I think that wikis are more than just glorified whiteboards. Wikis offer the people across the world opportunities to teach and learn from one another about any topic. There is also a trust factor with wikis and the students editing them.
2. Thanks to the wiki software, each class can collaborate on the same pages, editing and enhancing each others' content as they see fit. But wikis are repositories for more than simply print content, says Frey. "Teachers find wikis very useful for tying together different kinds of technology that they're using in the class. So they can have a wiki that ties into their blog, into their podcasts, videos, a group calendar."
I like the idea that wikis as a link to other technological tools in education. However, resources in school district may be limited.
